Borax Anhydrous

Borax Anhydrous

Anhydrous borax, also known as sodium tetraborate, α orthorhombic crystal melting point of 742.5 ℃. Density 2.28, β orthorhombic crystal melting point of 664 ℃. Density is 2.75, traits of white crystalline or colorless glassy crystals, strong moisture absorption, it dissolves in water, glycerol, slowly dissolved in methanol, can form a concentration of 13-16% of the solution, the aqueous solution was weakly alkaline, insoluble in alcohol. Borax is heated to 350 ~ 400 ℃ obtain anbydrous borax. Put it in the air, it will change to borax decahydrate or borax pentahydrate by absorbing moisture.

Borax Anhydrous

Specification

Borax, also known as sodium borate, sodium tetraborate, or disodium tetraborate, is an important boron compound, a mineral, and a salt of boric acid. It is usually a white powder consisting of soft colorless crystals that dissolve easily in water.

Borax has a wide variety of uses.It is widely used as raw material for boron oxide in production for heat insulated glass wool, weaving glass fibre and borosilicate glass, heat-resisting glass, elctric light source, glass beaker, pharmacy, cosmetic pakaging bottle, hollow micro-ball, optical glasses, sealing glass, etc. mainly fuctions in glass, flux, network former.

ceramic and enamal:

Borax can increase ceramic compressive strenght, abrasive resistance and chemical eresistance, such as wall tile, tableware, ceramic utensils, enamal devices, etc. making them more smooth and artistic.

Application

1. Anhydrous borax is mainly used for glass, adding borax in glass, can increase the transmission of ultraviolet light, improve transparency and heat resistance.

2. Anhydrous borax is used as a melting agent in the enamel industry, which reduces the melting point of the glaze and makes the glaze not easy to fall off.

3. Anhydrous borax in metallurgy for metal welding flux and the production of high temperature boron steel raw materials.

4. Anhydrous borax is used in the chemical industry to manufacture a variety of boron compounds.
